Phonics First® Orton-Gillingham Level I Course Content designed for:
Grades 3-4 general education teachers that have not been trained in Phonics First®
This course provides upper elementary teachers with a systematic, multisensory program for teaching multisyllable word attack strategies to struggling readers. Teachers learn to guide students to break unfamiliar multisyllabic word into small, manageable syllables, identify the vowel sounds within each syllable and read the word. Syllabication and the underlying phonetic structure of our language underpins decoding success for students who struggle to read at grade-level. Teachers will also receive an overview of Phonics First® strategies (drill, fingertapping, Red Words).
