How to Spell 4 is recommended for grades 7 through 12 and can be used in a classroom, with a small group, or with an individual student. More challenging sounds, patterns, rules, sight words, and practice exercises are geared toward older students. Workbook 4 includes lessons on more advanced topics: prefixes and suffixes, possessive words, silent letters, and irregular spellings. Students learn to spell by pronouncing and writing words and reinforce what they have learned by working individually in the workbook or through the How to Teach Spelling Resource Manual. Each page includes clear, precise instructions.
Workbook 4 also includes a chart for students to measure their progress as they learn more sounds and spelling patterns.
