COURSE DESCRIPTION

This comprehensive professional learning course equips teachers with deep knowledge of structured literacy and the Orton-Gillingham multisensory strategies to apply it in their classrooms. Language to Literacy® builds educator expertise across all components of literacy instruction—phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and written language—transforming research into explicit, systematic teaching that develops skilled, confident readers.

The fully aligned Language to Literacy® textbook extends learning beyond the course, serving as a lasting instructional reference designed for lesson planning and daily classroom application.

Participants learn to teach:

• Bridges the Science of Reading, Structured Literacy, and the Science of Learning to translate research into evidence-based instruction
• Addresses the full continuum of literacy development—oral language, foundational skills, and word recognition through vocabulary, comprehension, and written expression
• Equips educators with explicit, systematic, and diagnostic practices to assess, teach, differentiate, and monitor progress across all literacy domains
• Supports instruction across grade and tier levels for all students, including multilingual learners and students with dyslexia or other language-based learning differences

Upon completion, participants will:

• Receive a document of completion
• Be prepared to deliver explicit, systematic, evidence-based literacy instruction grounded in the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy to all students across grade and tier levels, including multilingual learners and students with dyslexia or other language-based learning differences
• Be eligible to apply for Brainspring’s nationally recognized certification program
• Be eligible to purchase Graduate Credits from select universities
