Level II Orton-Gillingham Training
Prerequisite:
Completion of either:
- Phonics First® Level I or
- Structures Level I
- 3+ months teaching Phonics First® and/or Structures to students
A Brainspring Instructor teaches this course live in real time via Zoom (access and use details are provided upon registration). Participants log in on each course date and time to participate. Courses allow for interaction with the Instructor and other course participants in order to retain the hands-on learning approach. Course sessions also include small-group discussions, practice sessions, and question and answer opportunities.

This rigorous Orton-Gillingham training course emphasizes instruction of struggling readers at all grade levels and is critical for teachers working with students of all ages and skill levels. However, it is critical for teachers working with students of all ages and skill levels who have dyslexia or a learning disability. Level II is a required step for those pursuing Brainspring’s nationally recognized certification. Participants gain expertise in: • Instruction of skills taught in Level I (Phonics First® or Structures) • Customizing lessons for dyslexic and learning or language disabled students • Advanced concepts of decoding and encoding

• Basic phonics through advanced morphology
• Syllabication/multisyllable word attack strategies
• Fluency-building
• Vocabulary
• The Reciprocal Teaching process
• Multisensory comprehension
• Multisensory syntax (grammar)
• Be eligible to purchase 2 Graduate Credits (Ashland University)
