Practice with /d/ and /t/

Practice with /d/ and /t/

Posted by Brainspring on 5th Jun 2023

Some students have difficulty recognizing the difference between the /d/ and /t/ sounds. The following is for additional practice with those sounds.

Materials:

  • Notecard with the letter “d” written on it.
  • Notecard with the letter “t” written on it.
  • Items that begin with the letter d or t
  • Toothbrush
  • Tweezers
  • Tape
  • Die
  • Domino
  • Dime

Lay the cards on the table. Have students name the sound and say each sound three times. Put the items in a pile. The students should pick up an object, say the object’s name, then place it next to the sound it starts with. You can repeat this activity for further practice using different objects.
